Abstract

A case study of a 13 year old boy previously fit and well who presented with a left hip pain and difficulty in weight bearing. Plain X-ray films of the left hip and leg, and ultrasonography of the left hip joint were unremarkable. However, his symptoms worsened with pyrexia, hallucinations, and increasing joint and muscle pain. The diagnosis made on the basis of positive blood culture growing Panton-Valentine Leukocidin Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus aureus and magnetic resonance imaging finding of multiple fluid collections in the left obturator internus and psoas muscles.
